Spherocone

The 14th century.

Clay. Size 8.7x10.5 cm.

Accidental find of German Alekseevich Fedorov-Davydov in 1970 at the Tsarevskoye settlement near the village of Tsarev, Leninsky rayon.

The fragment of a spheroconic ornamented vessel with a pointed end of the body and a narrow channel in the top part.

The purpose of the so-called spherocones is not entirely clear. They could have been used to carry dangerous liquids, such as mercury.
