Green jug

The 14th century

Clay, circle.

Height – 14 cm.

Found near the town of Dubovka, Dubovsky rayon, Volgograd oblast.

Excavations by Andrei Sergeevich Lapshin, 2013.

The red clay vessel with a relief ornament and a dark green glaze. The throat and handles were carved in ancient times.

In addition to everyday dishes, there were rich ceremonial dishes, for example, watering jugs. Such dishes were both locally produced and imported from distant regions of the Golden Horde. The dishes, painted in green and yellow colors, came from the territories of the Northern Black Sea region.
