Buckle from a harness set

The 13th - the early 14th centuries.

Bronze. Buckle diameter 3.3 cm

Found near the village of Solodovka in Leninsky rayon.

Excavations by Alexander Anatolyevich Glukhov, 2003.

The bronze and gilded round buckle with a relief image of a galloping fantasy animal. On one side of the buckle there is a rectangular loop, on the reverse side there is a wide loop for threading a belt. Plaques depicting fantasy winged horses were found on the horse skull and were used as decoration for the horse’s bridle straps.
