Attaches

The 1st century C.E.

Bronze, casting. Attach size 9.4×8.5 cm, 8.7×8.3 cm, handles 7.5×6 cm.

Found near the village of Oktyabrsky, Oktyabrsky rayon.

Excavations by Evgeny Pavlovich Myskov, 1995.

The handle attaches look like the heads of bearded Sileni framed by grape leaves. In the upper part of each medallion there are special semicircular grooves for folding handles, topped with rounded protrusions in their middle parts.

The ends of the handle arcs had decorative curls.

Attaches with handles were part of a large copper basin, which, according to some scientists, was used in ancient cities as a vessel for washing or bathing. How the nomads used this item is not known, but with confidence we can say that the basin with amazing attaches was valuable to them.
